Principal Software Engineer

Toronto, Ontario  - Permanent

Job Description

Our client partner has built a capital markets platform on top of one of the world's most widely adopted SaaS infrastructures, and done so in a way that few others can. They are targeting a fintech market segment that has been overlooked by most (they have one direct competitor so far), but has massive potential. The data centralization, automation, compliance and other services their platform delivers are 10x solutions for companies ranging from small foreign exchange brokers to your community bank. Only a few years into the business, and without any real marketing yet, customers are lining up; they're going to need some help scaling up the current platform and building out the product roadmap if they're going to meet demand... that's where you come in.

As a key member of this core platform development team, you'll be hands on in development, as well as in providing technical leadership to junior/intermediate team members. You won't need to know the business domain right off the bat, although you'll likely learn it quickly, but the team will be looking to you to help guide dev best practices.

Must Have Skills:

• A love of development and improving their craft
• 6+ years of experience building and delivering new features, processes, and tools (ideally with modern Java)
• Experience working with large codebases and writing robust and testable code
• Ability to identify problems and take initiative in solving them
• Ability to balance desire to ship code quickly to our customers with responsibility of making good technical decisions
• Mastery of Agile, Software Engineering best practices and Object-Oriented Programming
• Experience providing architectural, technical and team leadership for engineering teams

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with React.JS and other JavaScript frameworks
• Experience with Apex Development
• Experience with Python Development
• Familiarity with software security best practices
