Job Description

This client is mobility rewards platform partnering with municipalities, companies and private mobility services to reward people on their daily commutes. The ecosystem is designed to encourage people to get out of single occupant vehicles, and into any other form of transit, with the mission of helping reduce traffic and carbon emissions and improve the way people get around in their cities.

The team is growing and we are looking for a VP Engineering to join our expanding team headquartered in Toronto. This role will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for building and managing the Tech/Development team. The role will work closely with the product management and business development teams to deploy new features and product capabilities. The successful candidate will play a role in building upon the Company’s Technology RoadMap. A successful candidate has a background as a software engineer, led engineering teams and experience working for a technology start/scale up.

•Responsible for the quality and on-time development of the Mobile App
•Responsible for the on-going development of the company’s strategy for using technological resources along with the oversight, evaluation and development of the company’s technology infrastructure
•Responsible for ensuring all technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely
•Responsible for liaising with Head of Product Management to ensure Tech/Business alignment.
•Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
•Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
•Build and execute quality assurance and data protection processes
•Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
•Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
•Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors

Must Have Skills:

•A Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering, related field or equivalent experience
•3 to 5 years experience as a Software Engineer
•2-3 years experience as Manager/Director of Software Engineering teams
•Mobility as a Service & Public Transportation experience considered as an asset
•Rewards and Loyalty experience considered as an asset
•B2C product experience considered as an asset
•Proficiency working in with the following languages: React / React Native, Javascript, NodJS, SQL, AWS
•Experience with A/B testing and analytics tools (e.g. Firebase dynamic config, Airship, optimizely, etc )
•Experience working in a Start-up environment
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts simply and clearly to cross-functional audiences
•Resilient and able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with a high level of energy
