Our client is an innovative e-commerce shop that is looking to disrupt and fix the cross-border marketplace. They provide the best prices with tiny shipping costs and are able to get you products at the best prices by cutting out the middleman and connecting you with the factories directly.
They are hiring and growing enormously, consistently doubling year over year. They are also backed by the same folks that are behind Tesla, SpaceX and Wish.com. They are building out their foundational team to launch the company into the next phase of growth, and are looking to continuously improve and reshape the online shopping experience for every day consumers.
The Director of Product will be their first hire in Product Management. This is a tremendous opportunity for the right person to leverage creative freedom and build a team from scratch while bringing in new processes that aren't held back by legacy systems/thinking. They are in need of an experienced Product Manager and Leader to work with a cross-functional team and take ownership of their roadmap while rolling out frameworks and processes which will be the blueprint for the company moving forward.
You will be working directly with the CTO and will drive the development of a talented engineering team while helping with strategies to improve customer acquisition, conversion and retention targets. The right candidate will be hands on across areas of product management, growth and design. The hands on portion will decrease as the size of the team increases allowing the Director to move into more strategy based work.
Your Day to Day:
Strategy & Product: Define the product vision and deploy best practices for idea generation, prioritization, and execution to improve experiences for our customers and sellers on either side of the marketplace. Utilize our data science team and pipelines to drive direction and decision making. Work with leadership and business teams to derive a customer analytics and insights strategy for all product experiences.
People: Hire and lead a cross-functional team of growth engineers, designers, and digital marketers to collaborate with teams across the organization in bringing ideas from strategy to implementation. Oversee a strong and passionate team, fostering strong working relationships and driving best in class processes and practices, ensuring a supportive and motivational work environment for all team members
Process: Deploy a framework for experimentation and A/B testing to optimize the purchase path while maintaining an engaging shopping experience for customers. Own execution of features from concept to launch: Identify market opportunities, develop business cases, define the product roadmap and go-to-market plan, drive execution activities, acquire/act on customer feedback, and measure results. Creatively manage roadblocks for rapid iterations.
Must Have Skills:
- Well versed in Agile software development and lean product management processes
- Proven experience driving KPIs and long term objectives within teams and across organizations
- Deep analytical skills and experience in making decisions in a data-driven environment (A/B Testing, Multivariate Testing, Probabilistic & Statistical thinking)
- Excellent written and oral communication, must be able to influence through collaboration
- Deep understanding of eCommerce operations, managed marketplaces, mobile & web products
