Job Description

Our client is in search of an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their DevOps/Infrastructure team. This person will work towards automating the entire software development life cycle, leading the team in adopting DevOps best practices, implementing IaC best practices, and supporting cloud adoption. The DevOps Engineer will engage in continuous learning to stay on top of virtualization, containerization, cloud computing, and emerging technologies that can benefit software development. You will participate in operational activities through on call support, and provide technical guidance to various teams and clients. The DevOps Engineer will be both a technical implementer and a resource for the software development organization. The right person for the role is result driven and always striving to improve and support dev teams accelerate.

Responsibilities:

Act as technical lead for Infrastructure and DevOps team
Architect and Design Infrastructure and DevOps deployment
Provide technical guidance to the team, perform technical reviews and ensure that the team follows DevOps practices
Ensure compliance with security policies and requirements and provide the Information Security team assistance as required
Automate the creation of public cloud resources in AWS: EC2, EBS, RDS, Load Balancers, etc. by developing the necessary Terraform/Packer/SaltStack deployment infrastructure.
Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery systems
Manage GCP Cloud deployment and implement good architecture practices
Management of VMware private cloud and implement self-service practices
Manage hosts and databases in XenServer and AWS environments, including monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery preparation.
Manage deployments of the Enterprise Wealth Management System; suggest and implement process improvements
Ensure that infrastructure is deployed and utilized efficiently, using detailed monitoring
Develop reusable code for infrastructure automation
Support software development via tooling, infrastructure improvements and automation
Implement reliability practices for environments (using New Relic or cloud watch)
Available for on-call rotation to support critical deployments


Must Have Skills:

Operating systems: Linux, Windows Server
Databases: PostgreSQL, MS SQL, standalone and in RDS
AWS: EC2, EBS, Route 53, Load Balancers, etc.
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Tooling: Terraform (Other HashiCorp tools such as Packer, Consul, or Vault beneficial), SaltStack
Source Code Control: SVN, Bitbucket/Git
Build Pipeline: Bitbucket, Bamboo, Nexus, Crucible, Fisheye, SonarQube, JIRA, Confluence
Scripting in bash, Python
PowerShell, Java, Maven, Ant all beneficial
Knowledge of and commitment to DevOps practices and aims, particularly infrastructure as code
Cloud computing (particularly AWS and GCP) knowledge
Understanding and experience with private cloud and Vmware and Xen
Software development life-cycle experience and knowledge
Possess a university degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent practical experience
Certifications from AWS or other relevant vendors
Track record of installing, monitoring and maintaining complex, business-critical applications
Demonstrated proficiency in the maintenance of hardware and software
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Automated Infrastructure Management
Working knowledge of issues related to system installations & troubleshooting methods
Virtual Machine Management: Xen Hypervisor, Vmware
Networking: Routers, VPN and Firewalls (particularly Fortinet)
