Job Description

At our client, a Software Development Technical Team Lead is a hands-on software engineer, accountable for your team's technical design, development, and quality of technical deliverables. Tech Leads are collaborative by nature and lead by example, understanding that solving problems and finding solutions are always more effective when done as a collective. Tech Leads participate in roadmap and project planning, execute increment plans with their team, play a role in communicating progress to stakeholders, and ultimately representing their product development team in the software development process.

The Role Requirements/Responsibilities:

•the overall quality of software delivered by the cross-functional product team including adherence to development standards and frameworks
•providing a high degree of visibility into the health and performance of the cross-functional team at all times
•the cross-functional team’s ability to meet delivery commitments
•continuous improvement of the cross-functional team’s productivity and velocity
•lead by example, and promote leadership, mentorship, and inspiration to the product development team
•partner with the Product Owner, working closely with them to effectively create, maintain and groom the team's backlog
•act as a role model for incorporating and applying Agile practices and methodologies
•continuously collaborate with other Software Development Technical Team Leads, Software Development Managers, and Architecture to design and develop software
•understand the necessity of, and contribute to, development standards and best practices and assist in their enforcement
•act as a resource for their team on policies, procedures and technical issues
•execute design and code reviews of software components developed by other team members
•create and conduct automated unit and integration tests, facilitating all team members to assist in their creation and execution
•review current software to identify opportunities to improve performance and stability
•promote extensibility and re-usability in application design and coding

Must Have Skills:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/related field or equivalent work experience
•8+ years experience in software development
•5+ years designing and developing server-side transaction processing applications using Java, Persistence Frameworks, Presentation Frameworks and concepts (Vue.js, JSF, MVC, PrimeFaces)
•2+ years experience in a Team Lead role
•2+ years building cloud-native, API-centric applications
•strong working experience with object oriented programming
•strong working experience in iterative software delivery methodologies – Agile, SCRUM, SAFe, XP, etc.
•strong organization skills, interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail
•ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, be decisive under ambiguity, and meet tight deadlines
•ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
•proactivity in terms of identifying areas of weakness and striving for improvement
•aptitude and interest to quickly learn new and emerging technologies and methods
•ability to assess risks and impacts on the existing system as new functionality is added
•strong verbal, written communication and presentations skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of users/management including external clients and vendors
•strong self-starter, lead by example, collaborative

Technical Qualifications:

•building Cloud-Centric applications: RESTful APIs, micro-services, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Spring Boot
•quality technologies: Unit Testing (JUnit, EasyMock, Mockito, etc), Automation and Integration testing (Selenium, Spring TestContext, etc)
•working with ORMs (JPA, Hibernate, MyBatis, etc)
•working with SQL Server, stored procedures, stored functions, database profiling and tuning, etc..
•working experience with Behavior Driven Design, Test Driven Design, and Domain Driven Design
•strong problem-solving skills, ability to debug and solve complex issues
•experience in applying security techniques and standards towards remediation and mitigation of application vulnerabilities

Nice to Have Skills:

•background in the financial services industry and specifically wealth management industry, or/and in the accounting services industry
•experience migrating applications from a monolith to micro-service, cloud-centric architecture
•working experience with Git/Maven in a continuous build, continuous deployment environment
