Vice President, Software Engineering

Our client is a Canadian leader in the contact centre software space seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering to join their team.

The successful candidate will lead their development team through the transformation of their premise based enterprise contact center solution into the cloud.

As a member of the leadership team the Vice President, Software Engineering will be a key contributor to their success, and will play a collaborative role in developing their long term strategic vision and then ensure its successful execution.

Leading highly skilled team that creates solutions which enable their clients to provide excellent customer experiences and builds their software engineering competencies and processes as they revolutionize their go to market capabilities enabling them to deliver products that exceed client and partner expectations.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the COO, you will represent the interests of their software engineering team. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of stable, scalable, secure and maintainable enterprise products that will enable expansion into new markets. You have experience with architectural and technical transformations, enterprise software, and excel at making your team perform. You値l use data to measure the success of initiatives, improve on existing processes, and build new ones. The department and its growth will be yours to own and cultivate. As the Vice President, Engineering will be responsible for:


Technical leadership and engineering execution:

Our client is currently transforming their premise based enterprise solution into a SaaS offering and you will take the helm and lead us through the trials and pitfalls. You値l work with the product team to ensure their architecture is flexible and scalable to support expanding business lines and features, and you値l take ownership for consistently delivering meaningful features, applications and technology solutions that solve business problems, using metrics and data to measure results.

Personnel management:
You love building high performing engineering teams and understand how to balance output, culture, and quality. You will work closely with the executive team to shape and lead Engineering teams.
You値l employ outstanding leadership and team building skills to coach, manage and mentor their existing team, and you値l be responsible for recruiting, hiring, growing, and retaining amazing talent.


Must Have Skills:

10+ years experience in understanding all aspects of software engineering, including coding, maintenance, architecture and design
5+ years experience of building and supporting the delivery of SaaS and executing in a SaaS environment
Successful track record of transforming a premise based solution to a hosted SaaS environment
Exceptional leadership and technical skills. You promote a culture of continuous learning to improve execution, and remove roadblocks that are holding the team back. You have a passion for developing the skills and talents of those on your team, and you actively promote an inspiring and inclusive environment.
Experience collaborating with other departments including Product Management, Sales, Professional Services etc.
A clear communicator, able to articulate both momentum on initiatives as well as key risks and challenges
Expertise with best in class software development processes, including AGILE, scrum and Waterfall, across the entire SDLC (DevOps, Automated Testing, Requirements Management, etc)
Critical thinker with demonstrated capabilities to quickly resolve complex challenges
You've scaled an engineering organization and can't wait to do it again.
You have a degree in software engineering or computer science from a recognized university or equivalent development and enterprise architectural experience.


Nice to Have Skills:

Practical experience in telecom or contact centers
Familiarity with their tech stack, which includes C#, Javascript (Angular and React) and MS SQL. We work with Selenium and other automated testing frameworks.
