The Opportunity:

Our Distribution team is looking for a Lead Engineer to help deliver the best ticket resale API on the market. Our partners depend on us to enable their customers to access our broad inventory of concerts, sports, and other live events. As this critical area of the business grows, we are looking to expand our current offering into a full-fledged product that can onboard new partners quickly and effectively.

As Lead Engineer you値l make highly visible enhancements to our platform by maintaining and building new features, as well as integrating several of our internal systems into one cohesive platform. You値l also have the opportunity to provide mentorship, help drive and improve our development process, and architect and deploy new services and systems. You値l work in Python, Java, and JavaScript (with VueJS) to support existing customers, help onboard new ones, and build tooling.

Our Engineering department is made up of cross-functional Agile development teams that deploy to AWS. You値l tackle some of the most difficult challenges scaling an e-commerce marketplace by developing creative and intuitive features that maximize value and efficiency across the organization.

You値l partner with a team of Product Owners, Quality Engineers, User Experience Designers and Developers to deliver exceptional software, showcasing your work at the end of each 2-week sprint cycle. Our teams will lean on your expertise for best practices in design patterns, code quality, testing, and innovation to keep our commitment to always put our customers first. 

How your role contributes to the success:

You will help us design and deploy a stable, well-documented and productized set of web services that will reduce the time and effort necessary to onboard our growing list of partners.
You will help mentor your team, ensuring that they are unblocked and productive while also being challenged to grow.
You will be engaged in the software delivery process, helping to tune it to be effective and support the team.
You値l deliver high-quality code that sets an example for the rest of the team.
You値l give thoughtful code reviews to your peers.
You値l coordinate with engineering leadership, UX and product to help set expectations around delivery timelines and solve technical challenges.

How your role expectations will progress as a Lead Engineer in the first 30, 60, and 180 days:

30 days in:

Complete new hire orientation, gaining the resources you need to be successful.
Learn how ticket marketplaces operate and how you値l contribute to providing great experiences for our customers.
Acclimate to team and company norms, business objectives, and Vivid Seats values.
Become familiar with both software platforms the team currently supports.

90 days in:

Enhance our approaches, methods, or technologies to mitigate risks and improve efficiencies.
Build, maintain, and leverage internal and external relationships to achieve progress and advance objectives.
Deliver clean code and thoughtful, insightful code review that helps level up our product and our team.

180 days in:

Design and implement process improvements that positively impacts the team.
Mentor others, playing an active role in elevating the skill sets of those you work with.
Architect and take ownership of new components of our API and platform, working with the leadership team and product to come up with technical solutions to our key business needs.
