Job Description

The Data Scientist is responsible to Deliver Capital Markets (CM) productivity solutions/client-level reporting/analytics and business insights to senior executives and front-line professionals to support their business development, performance management, and strategic objectives. The role requires an individual with superior analytical capabilities and will work with partners on assessing business problems, conducting research, structuring data and building automated solutions.


Must Have Skills:

● Possesses a university degree in mathematics, statistics, or engineering, (Masters and/or PhD preferred)
● 5 – 10 years of experience in advanced analytics
● Experience in optimization techniques and approaches, with real world application to business problems
● Experience using a wide range of analytical techniques: supervised learning, clustering, natural language processing (NLP), recommender engines, time series analysis, A/B testing, network/link analysis and sentiment analysis
● Advanced skills in Python and/or R, including relevant packages and statistical testing methodologies
● Experience in building and presenting data driven insights through business intelligence tools such as Spotfire or Power BI
● Demonstrates solid communication (both written and verbal) and relationship management skills
● Exhibits advanced critical thinking skills, integrative skills and creativity to drive innovation
● Demonstrates ability to build a good fact base, apply sound reasoning, and generate relevant recommendations that get implemented and lead to business success
● Able to work highly independently and manage multiple priorities in an agile fast paced environment
● Possesses solid leadership skills and is able to work successfully with a team that has diverse skills, knowledge, and educational backgrounds
● Possesses strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel: required for business analysis and presentation of findings
● Detail oriented with good organizational skills

Analytical Insights and Solutions – Weighting: 70%
● Utilize knowledge of CM’s businesses, products, and risk measures to Design, develop and implement advanced analytical solutions in support of LOB performance, strategic objectives, and to help resolve priority business problems.
● Perform data cleansing, statistical transformation, feature engineering & selection
● Utilize predictive modelling techniques (supervised/unsupervised learning, network analysis, optimization & natural language processing) to construct, deploy and assess relevant analytical and machine learning based models that help to drive real business results

Client Services and Reporting – Weighting: 20%
● Visualize & build storyboards on model outputs and insights
● Model production/deployment and performance assessment
● Manage client expectations, and meet agreed upon deadlines; produce work that is timely and accurate. Strive to provide great customer service and anticipate follow-up inquiries
● Question the integrity of data; delve into data issues raised
● Participate in and contribute to project and team meetings, interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments, as appropriate, in order to understand project requirements

Process Efficiencies – Weighting: 10%
● Leverage existing applications, reports, and analysis where possible to minimize unnecessary work
● Assess current practices and introduce process efficiencies / automation in the database and analysis/reporting
