Job Description

Our client; a home-grown, well funded Toronto start-up is looking to add to their team of 90+ as they leverage new technologies, and AI to disrupt the fin-tech space. You will be working with a tight-knit team who has had proven success in both the financial, digital analytics space and two previous start-up exits!

We are looking for Software Engineer to focus on their core Infrastructure system. You will report directly to the Director of Client Services and work closely with DevOps, Integrations and Product teams to ensure our cloud spend and usage is fully optimized in AWS. You will work on using automation of tooling to create cost and usage awareness and visibility within teams – without risking reliability or customer experience. Ultimately, you will be responsible for prioritizing ongoing optimization of cloud consumption costs and ensuring engineering teams are getting maximum value for minimal spend. We want individual contributors with the ability to think outside of the box - team players and not afraid to express their views in a direct but professional manner.


Responsibilities
-Building solutions to help drive cost efficiency
-Building, and contributing to, automating tooling to manage waste
-Assessing new-vs-current tools and technology for cost saving purposes
-Advising teams on where and how to be cost efficient, as well as making it easier for them to adopt improvements
-Handling System administration on AWS
-Building Infrastructure as code tools


Must Have Skills:

-BS in Computer Science or equivalent area
-Strong backend/systems development skills with Python
-3+ years of AWS or cloud operations/infrastructure experience
-experience with containerized workloads and services - Kubernetes, Docker
-experience using infrastructure as code tools - Terraform, Cloudformation
-Expert-level in AWS tool - CloudWatch, EC2, ECS, Route53, Cloudfront, Elasticsearch, Elasticache, S3, VPC and ALB
-Ability to make recommendations around usage, debugging and optimization
-Demonstrated ability to “think outside of the box”


Nice to Have Skills:

-AWS certified solutions architect associate or AWS certified sysops administrator certification
